For
Jiiva, shooting for Sundar C’s Coffee With Kadhal was a reunion of sorts, for he got to work again with the director and
Jai – with whom he has done Kalakalappu 2 before - and
Srikanth (his Nanban co-star). “I said OK to the script because of
Sundar C. He writes really good characters for his artistes and takes good care of them on the set,” begins the actor, “I haven’t had the chance to meet Jai and Srikanth often.
In fact, I was meeting Srikanth after almost 10 years! So, it was quite nostalgic working with them again on this film. The two have done amazing work and their characters will resonate with the audience.”
Jiiva says Coffee With Kadhal was a welcome change for him. “I had gotten into the zone of doing either too much comedy or too much action. When this script came to me, I felt it was quite balanced. It’s the story of brothers and their relationships and dynamics. I play an IT employee who is going to get married. He is neither an introvert nor an extrovert. He is quite balanced in his way of thinking. I’d say he is the balancing factor between the brothers,” he states.
Given that it’s a multi-starrer, was there any tension on set? “Not at all, I don’t have any insecurities. If I feel someone else has a better role or scope than me, I know it’s to elevate the film and I’m genuinely happy about it. Adhutha padathula namma balance pannikalam,” he laughs, and adds, “Be it
Amritha Aiyer,
Malvika Sharma,
DD, everyone has a strong character and they have done their part very well. I believe this will be a thoroughly entertaining, feel-good film.”
